Engine Oil Changes
You should change your engine oil annually or by oil interval ~ 5k for full synthetic. European full synthetic motor oils have higher mileage intervals ~10k and Diesel synthetic motor oil is ~7.5k.
Regular maintenance with high quality full synthetic motor oil will keep your original engine running over 300k miles.
We stock only full synthetic motor oil for domestic and European brands. Schedule your oil change here!
Air Filter & Cabin Air Filter
Your air filter should be replaced by your vehicle maintenance schedule, every other oil change or every 15,000 miles. Cabin air filters should be replaced by intervals or every 30k miles.
Engine air filters filter the air your engine uses to make combustion and should be clean for optimal performance. Your cabin air filter keeps the air you are breathing clear of pollen and other road debris and ensures a constant flow of clean air in your cab.
Check your service history to see when you last replaced your cabin air filter or schedule your air filter and cabin air filter replacement during your next oil change here.
Body, Frame & Suspension Lubrication
Your vehicle's body, frame and rubber suspension components should be lubricated every other oil change.
Proper lubrication preserves your vehicle components and prevents premature suspension and joint repairs.
If your vehicle is starting to creek and whine, opening doors or driving over rough terrain, get back on track by scheduling your vehicle lubrication service during your next oil change here.
Brake Fluid
Your brake fluid is made up of a chemical glycol-ether which is “hygroscopic” meaning it absorbs moisture. This prevents your brake fluid from boiling from excessive brake heat and allows better energy transfer from your foot to your brake pad.
Too much moisture in your brake fluid will mean spongy or soft braking. You should replace your brake fluid per your vehicle maintenance table, every 30k miles or when a brake fluid moisture test shows too much water in your brake fluid.
Schedule a brake fluid check with your next oil change or by clicking here.
Brake Pads
Your brake pads will usually tell you when they need to be replaced. Most newer vehicles come with brake pad sensors that will illuminate in your message center, and older models have a squeaking noise indicator.
When looking directly at your brake pad and the rotor surface, 2 mm or less of brake pad material means your brakes are due.
Waiting any longer than that will cause a metal on metal grinding condition that will mean your vehicle is dangerous to drive. To find out why in this brake failure article, or schedule a brake check here.
Coolant/ Antifreeze
Your cooling system becomes acidic overtime and begins to corrode rubber, plastic and cylinder block components. Acidity increases from breaking down antifreeze and sulfates entering the cooling system.
You should have your cooling system Hp checked regularly and have your cooling system flushed every 100k miles or per manufacturer recommendations. Get your cooling system PH level checked or schedule a cooling system service here.
Differential & Transfer Case Fluid
Your differential has gear oil that should be serviced every 40-60k miles or 5 years. It's a good idea to service your transfer case fluid at the same time.
Taking your vehicle to a reputable repair facility will record your maintenance history to your VIN number for easier reference. Check your differential service history when you schedule your next oil change.
Automatic & CVT Transmission Fluid
Your transmission fluid should be serviced every 80K miles or as your vehicle manufacturer recommends usually at around 120k miles.
Service your transmission earlier and often if you’d like to extend its life.
If you wait until your transmission begins to shift hard or slip it will be too late.
Don’t fall behind on this fluid change, schedule your transmission service here.
Manual Transmission Gear Oil
Your manual transmission has internal gears that use gear oil just like a differential. Gear oil must also be serviced. Manual transmissions should be serviced every 40-60k miles or 5 years.
Get your manual transmission gears running smoother by adding a friction reducer to your gear oil.
Schedule your gear oil service here.
Power Steering Fluid
If your vehicle is still running a hydraulic power steering system, your vehicle has power steering fluid and it needs to be serviced every 40-80k miles.
Dirt and other debris collects in your power steering fluid causing wear and tear on the rubber seals and components in your steering rack and pinion.
Conducting a power steering flush ensures your steering remains smooth and prevents premature steering failure. Have your power steering checked on your next oil change.
Tune Ups/ Spark Plugs
If your engine is misfiring or running rough, it may be time for your tune up. Tune-ups are usually due every 100k miles.
Some newer vehicles may require spark plugs replaced as early as 30k miles. It is important to review your vehicle manufacturer's recommended spark plug interval.
Replace your spark plugs to keep your engine running right and improve fuel efficiency. Schedule your tune up here.
Timing Belt
If you have a timing belt you don't want it to break. A timing belt replacement is due at ~120k miles. A neglected timing belt maintenance could mean a new engine if it fails while your vehicle is driving more than 20 miles per hour.
Don’t get caught off guard with “catastrophic engine failure”. Give us a call and we’ll check your service history or schedule your timing belt service here.
